Husqvarna celebrate 50 years of chainsaw production with new product
The Husqvarna brand was established in 1689 and is the leading brand in innovative garden solutions for homeowners. Distributed in Ireland by Liffey Distributors, Husqvarna is one of the oldest companies in the world and has successfully remained at the forefront of technology and innovation over the years with its wide range of state-of-the-art garden equipment and accessories.
Husqvarna is the world's largest producer of lawnmowers, chainsaws and portable gas-powered garden equipment such as trimmers and blowers. The group is also a world leader in diamond tools and cutting equipment for the construction and stone industries.
This year Husqvarna has manufactured chainsaws for 50 years. The first chainsaw was made in 1959 and it came to be one of many innovative outdoor appliances that today are sold worldwide. With respect to the 50th anniversary, Husqvarna 450e has been pronounced the jubilee chainsaw.
In 1959 Husqvarna manufactured the company’s first chainsaw based on an order from the President at the local sawmill, who was aware of the undesirable working conditions and saw the need for a new type of chainsaw. With experience from motorbike engines, Husqvarna manufactured a chainsaw with a stronger engine, that weighed less and that was quieter than other available chainsaws, the Husqvarna 90.
Today, on a global scale, Husqvarna is the largest manufacturer of outdoor appliances and one of the leading chainsaw producers. In the late 60´s the unique anti-vibration dampener that separated the handle from the engine in the model Husqvarna 180 was developed. This system dramatically reduced the vibrations and led to improved working conditions. One of the milestones in Husqvarna’s chainsaw history was in 1973, when the company was first to equip all chainsaw models with inertia-activated chain brake, which markedly increased the safety for the users. Ever since, innovation has affected Husqvarna´s chain saw production. In recent years, Husqvarna has gained a lot of ground due to breakthrough innovations within safety and user friendliness, for example the unique safety system TrioBrakeTM.
